Two Docile Cat Breeds Related to Scottish Fold Breeding
Recently, PetFoodDirect.com had an article, “Seven Docile Cat Breeds,” in their Volume 3, Issue 15 published online June 7, 2014. I thought it was interesting that two of those seven breeds are the foundation to the Scottish Fold breeding protocols:
American Shorthair
The American Shorthair description in the article was: “Sweet, amiable and playful are a few of the adjectives often used to describe the American Shorthair. Their longevity, good health and personality make them a great family pet.” [Image: Vladyslav Starozhylov via Shutterstock.]
British Shorthair
The British Shorthair description in the article was: “Easygoing, calm and very affectionate, the British Shorthair is also known for becoming very attached to their people. They get along well with people, but aren’t in love with the idea of being held or carried.” [Image: Eric Isselee via Shutterstock.]
Note: If I didn’t know better, I’d say that somewhere in Stanley’s ancestry were a bunch of British Shorthairs. In fact, there might be many British Shorthairs! Look at those large, yellow eyes! He is easygoing and calm, being very attached to his “people.” And he does get along well with people – as long as they don’t plan to touch him beyond what he wants. He definitely isn’t that into being held or carried – unless he chooses it, but only for as long as he desires. If per chance, he does have some American Shorthair in his background, I hope he inherits their longevity and good health. Personality he already has.
